WHEN: Sept 12 (Sunday); 2 pm
WHERE: Cavendish Historical Society Museum, 1958 Main St. Cavendish VT
DESCRIPTION: On Sept. 13, 1848, Phineas Gage, while laying railroad track in Cavendish, sustained a massive brain injury when a tamping rod was blown through his head. The first well documented case of brain injury in the medical literature, the interest and research on his injuries and his life after the injury has not waned. Each year, on the Sunday closest to the date of the accident, the Cavendish Historical Society (CHS) hosts a walk & talk.
The talk portion takes place at the Museum (masks are required inside the museum) followed by a walk to site of the accident, with various points of interest (the place where Gage stayed, Dr. Harlow’s office) which is approximately 3/4 of a mile from the Museum.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations welcome.
