Considering Home Solar Workshop

The Cavendish Energy Committee has been working with the Chester Conservation Committee to help them a Solar Education and Information Workshop.

When: 2/3/15 from 7-8:30 pm

Where: NewsBank Conference Center in Chester

Description:  The Chester Conservation Committee will present a Solar Education and Information Workshop On Feb 3, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30 at the NewsBank Conference Center, 352 Main Street in Chester, Vermont.

The workshop will feature three speakers who will explain and answer your questions about the what, why and how of using Solar Power for your home energy needs.

For the homeowner who wants to save money while contributing toward saving the planet, this workshop will provide information about how to get started.

The first speaker, Lee Gustafson, of Net Zero Renewable Resources in Chester, will present information about how homeowners can use the sun to generate electricity for their home. Lee will talk about the specific elements of a solar evaluation including how solar companies assist the homeowner in reviewing the different options.

Anika James, from SunCommon, will explain how to heat your home with solar power and a super-efficient heating unit that heats for 1/3 the cost of propane and can help lower your carbon footprint. She will also provide information about how homeowners who don't have a good spot for solar can be part of a larger community array.

Our third speaker, Dave Winslow, Senior Energy Specialist at Green Mountain Power, will help us make sense out of the financial implications of going solar and being a GMP customer. During the summer, solar panels generate more electricity that the average homeowner consumes. What happens to that unused electricity when your meter spins backwards? Find out how you can use your summer credits during the winter using net metering.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have the information necessary to begin making informed decisions toward their next step in considering solar for their energy needs. Please join the Chester Conservation Committee for this informative solar event.

In the event of cancellation due to snow, the event will be rescheduled in the spring.
